A worthy temple for the Ruinous Powers

Greetings, fellow worshippers of the true lords of the Universe and those poor souls who haven't realized yet..

For the upcoming 200 pts. tournament on Saturday I painted the Chaos Temple I built many months ago. It will serve as my army's display base at the tournament and also as a terrain piece with house rules for battles in my appartment among friends.

Many more photos after the jump!

Chaos Reinforcements

Hey guys!

Yesterday, I painted four close combat Cultists of the Dark Vengeance box after I converted them slightly:

As I've been playing the PC game Outlast recently, especially the Cultist with the scarred and bare upper body reminded me very much of one of the psychopaths from that game.

They are meant mainly for my 200 pts. Kill Team I'll be fielding on a tournament at the end of this month:

12 Cultists
- CCW + autopistols
- 1 Heavy Stubber [+1 BS]
1 Champion
- Shotgun

2 Chaos Terminators
- 1 Power Sword
- 1 Power Maul [+1 W]
1 Chaos Terminator Champion [Leader]
- 1 Power Axe

1 Chaos Spawn
- Mark of Nurgle [4+ Invulnerable Save]

Total: 200 pts.

The rules of the tournament are quite easy: every model in your force acts for itself. You get to upgrade 3 models to be specialists, i.e. they get a [bonus] you can choose from a list. Also, as long as your [Leader] is alive, every model can use his Leadership for Morale Checks which you have to take if you suffered 75% or more losses. All your models can allocate their shots and attacks on as many models as you want to etc. There are some more rules and it's a very interesting game format overall. Also, it's a friend of mine who will be hosting the tournament. I'm really looking forward to it.

Battle of the Blogs

Hey guys! Long time no read. But today I have something very special for you. Goatmoerser from Aleatorblog paid me a visit ~2 weeks ago and we had a fun 500 pts. match with our armies: his IV Argos and my Traitor Guard.

The following battle report was written by Goatmoerser, so all credits go to him. Enjoy reading it and looking at the cool pics!

What to do with insomnia

I wasn't able to sleep well last night and lay wide awake most of the time. At 5 am I finally decided to get up. And as this afternoon I'm going to meet Goatmoerser, an aquaintance of mine from Aleatorblog, for a 500 pts. match and some beers, I decided to paint a model I need for my army list - a Chimera transport!

I simply don't feel good playing with unpainted miniatures and Goatmörser feels the same way. And as we're planning on doing a battle report of our match, it was beyond all question not to paint the Chimera.

More Dakka for Chaos

And here we go with some pics of the next finished models. It's a quite nice thing when all exams are written and the lecturers gave their O.K. for the art portfolios. :D

I snatched an Iron Warrior w/ Autocannon and his little brother, a nameless Cultist with Heavy Stubber and painted them after they received minor conversions:

A Handful of Cultists

It's still early in the morning here but, nevertheless, I have a quick update for you before I'll be off for a weekend full of studying: a handful of Cultists. The pics didn't come out as well as I hoped, but you should be able to grasp the essentials. ;)
Read you next week!

For Law And Order

I'm planning on playing my Lost and Damned at the next 1,500 pts tournament. I'll be playing a totally new army list with a 30 men strong mob + Commissar, 2 Veteran Squads, 3(!) Leman Russes, 1 Hellhound, and my Basilisk. Thus, I found it necessary to build and paint some more traitors.

Two days ago, I examined the Cultist sprues of the new starter box and found the minis damn cool. So I snatched them and the first guy I painted was the one with the cool trench coat. He received two minor conversions and now the creed "The one with the mightiest beard is the boss" applies. ;) Welcome the new Commissar!

Even More Mud And Rusty Tracks

As I finally have an airbrush compressor again after more than 1 month without one, it's only natural that I currently even more enjoy working with my airbrush and so I can present you another two Leman Russes today - the battle tanks "Entombed" and "Death"

Next up will be my Hellhound and Basilisk and after that some of the last Daemons for my commission army.

Mud And Rusty Tracks

Today I present you my Leman Russ Vanquisher "Morbid Angel" which was the first of my tanks to get the new camouflage pattern:

Aegis Defence Line

For the upcoming 4th Battleground Ratisbona I painted an Aegis Defence Line for my Iron Warriors army list:

Cultists, we need moar Cultists!

Yes, we do! With their 4 pts. per model and a option to buy a heavy stubber or flamer for only 5 pts., these crazy fanatics are a quite nice element of the new Codex in my eyes.

As I always hoped for some kind of lesser human forces in an upcoming Codex when I started my Iron Warriors, I based my Renegades the same way I did with my Iron Warriors and painted them in a rather matching colour scheme. Now I can use my Renegades for both my Traitor Guard and my Iron Warriors. Hell yeah!

Last Saturday, two club mates and I have been to Ingolstadt on a 200 pts. Kill Team tournament. This is what I played:

10 cultists
+ heavy stubber (specialist [+1 BS])

9 Chaos Space Marines (one of them specialist [+1 T])
+ Plasma gun (specialist [+1 W])
- Champion /w twin-linked boltgun [Leader]

I won three times, had a draw and a loss once each. Overall, that got me the 2nd place in the torunament. I also won a medal for the best specialist conversions.

Here's the enemy's pain in the ass, the heavy stubber with BS 4:

For Sale: Renegades Shadowsword / Stormsword

Due to minor financial problems and the fact that I'll never play with this model I'm selling my pro-painted Renegades Shadowsword / Stormsword on ebay.com

Here's the link to the auction:

Mortar tower

Done! The tower's finished and I'm quite content with the outcome. The rust effect on the top will dissolve a little bit once the matt varnish is applied.

I think I'm in a terrain building flow

The ideas keep coming to my mind and I'm happily building and realizing them. Here's a preview of my current piece of terrain.

It's a high tower (for whatever purpose) and atop of it a renegade with a mortar took a stand but got killed by a sniper:

Death to all Imperial Fists

Like I said, I plan on doing a tank wreck for my gaming board and it'll of course be a IF Rhino. This morning I painted the tank's former driver:

Czech Hedgehogs

The Czech Hedgehogs are finished:

First terrain pieces finished

I've painted the first terrain pieces for my "Terra Torn Asunder" themed gaming board: 4 of GW's craters
I decorated them with some sand, plastic card, a dead Iron Warrior (poor mate!) and some other stuff.

New gaming table for private purpose only

I already own a gaming table with a good deal of terrain pieces but as I made it available for use on various tournaments of our club so far it is in a rather bad condition. Many people simply don't appreciate the work invested in building and painting good looking terrain and thus treat it badly.

I decided to "donate" the gaming board inclusive the terrain to our club and build a new one for private purpose only, i.e. when I play with friends at my place. It will be the best looking terrain I've built so far and will match my Lost and the Damned and Iron Warriors relating to base design, details and gimmicks.

I guess it's already more than 1.5 years ago when I saw a nice tutorial on the web on how to build Czech hedgehogs. I liked it a lot and therefore built some of my own:

They will be adorned with some barbed wire I make of locking wire:

For the center of the board I plan on building a 3 to 4 stories high bombed tenement block. The ground floor's windows will be boarded up so it serves as a line of sight blocker. Around this I'll build four to five 2-3 stories high buildings. The "streets" and outskrits will be filled by the Czech hedgehogs mentioned above, craters, tank wrecks, piles of rubble and debris, oil barrels etc. I'm really looking forward to this project for my semester break.
