Heldrake

I had a very rough and long painting evening and night yesterday, but due to that I can already present you my Heldrake Death Fiend:

I have to admit, this is one wicked model the CSM got from GW here. But it's also a hell of effort to paint it and I nearly despaired of the paintjob, especially because of all those golden rims on the wings. However, with a good playlist on my computer and some iron stamina I could finish the model eventually.

Here you can vote for the model on CMON if you'd like to : http://www.coolminiornot.com/318972

  1. Auch wenn mir das Modell an sich nicht so besonders gefällt, ist die Bemalung top.

Echt schön anzusehen, was du da insgesamt herausgeholt hast. Und ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass das Teil bemaltechnisch ein "Pain-in-the-Ass" war. (*O*)

btw. Das mit den Kasrkin hat sich erst einmal erledigt. Dennoch danke!

  4. Oh that's Nice! I dig the more subtle color palettle and the blood use. Not overdone, but clearly gory.

I also like the grey/purple organic areas. Looks appropriate :)

  6. For the love of god, PLEASE tell me how you achieved that kick ass gore effect! If I can learn the secret to good gore painting, I swear....I'll go back and bloody up every model wielding a weapeon (which is to say, all of them)!!

    Thanks!

  7. Hi Ian!

For the love of all four Chaos Gods, I will happily tell you. Or rather show you! A friend of mine - mad matt - made a video tutorial for this gore effect. Check it out:

  8. Wait...so....its JUST tamiya x-27 and black paint, mixed together, allowed to sort of dry, then applied via stippling?

Thats it?! But, its so easy! I dont believe you. Sorcery is surely involved.

    1. Hey Ian, there might be some ruinous powers involved, but overall it's simple as that. Nice effects don't necessarily have to be difficult. :)
